Under Murillo's guidance while coaching at the club and academy level more than 43 athletes have advanced to the Division I, II, III, NAIA, and NJCAA collegiate ranks; 19 of his former players currently are playing professionally in the NWSL, USL, MLS, Liga MX, and Bundesliga. Murillo's Collegiate career started at Angelina College, where the Roadrunners and Lady Roadrunners ranked 6th and 12th in the country, producing five All-Americans. The women's team finished with a record of 26-8-1, while the men's teams finished with a 29-7-2 and a place in the 2022 National Tournament. Murillo's goalkeepers produced a 0.58 goals-against average over 19 games during the 2022 season. As he reunites with his former HC at the University of St. Thomas Murillo's coaching helped produce 6 All SCAC Players for the 23-24 season.
