MICHAEL TERRELL

PROFILE

Michael, originally from Newcastle, England, came to the states in 2006 following 3 years at Newcastle United F.C appearing in the U18 and making numerous appearances in the reserve team. He was registered with a squad number for the 2004-05 UEFA cup campaign for the first team although never made a first team appearance. Terrell came through the youth ranks with current England internationals Andy Carroll and Frazer Forster as well as Holland goalkeeper Tim Krul. Lucky enough to play against some world class players in the reserve team such as Wayne Rooney, James Milner, Gerard Pique and more. Recruited in 2006 to come to the states on a soccer scholarship, Michael attended the University of the Incarnate Word and played soccer there 2006-2009 achieving numerous first team all conference and all region awards. He captained the team for final 2 years and achieved an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Education during this time. Terrell on to become assistant coach at the University of the Incarnate word after playing, while achieving a 4.0 masters degree in Sports Management. He coached the Cardinals for 4 years before making the move to Albion the Fall of 2013.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate Assistant at UIW in San Antonio (D1)
  • Joined AHFC in July 2013 - roles have included Boys West Staff Coach, Boys West Director, Boys Elite Staff Coach, ECNL Staff Coach & my current role is Boys ECNL Program Director 
  • Selected by the ECNL to coach a team in their ECNL National Selection Game on two different occasions (April 2022 & April 2023)
  • Selected by the ECNL as one of six coaches selected by the league to work the 2023 ECNL National Training Camp at the Olympic Training Facility in Chula Vista, CA

PLAYING EXPERIENCE

  • Spent the majority of my playing career in the English Premier League Academy system from around 8 years old all the way through to moving to the US aged 18. Most recent club was Newcastle United (2003-2006) where I mainly featuring in the U16 & U18 academy teams, along with 20 reserve team (second team) appearences. Was registered by Sir Bobby Robson as a member of the Newcastle United First Team squad for their 2003/04 Champions League campaign although I didn't make a first team appearence. Moved to UIW in San Antonio, TX to play College Soccer between July 2006 - December 2009. My last involvement in competitive soccer was Summer 2010 when I played USL 2 (then called PDL) for Ventura County Fusion who were USL 2 National Champions at the time
