AHFC & Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association Announce Long Term Affiliation!
Houston, TX, July 10, 2008 – Albion Hurricanes FC (AHFC) is pleased to announce a long term affiliation with the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association (SBMSA).
Beginning Fall 2008, the AHFC and SBMSA recreational soccer programs will merge, providing children in the community with more soccer playing and training options. In addition, AHFC becomes the select soccer program for SBMSA, providing a direct path into a select soccer program for those players who want to compete at the next level.
With this affiliation, AHFC coaches will provide training for SBMSA players and conduct clinics for parent coaches. Players will also be offered options for additional professional training opportunities.
Jay Laughlin, SBMSA Soccer Program Director states, “SBMSA is looking forward to our affiliation with AHFC and their contribution to our program. We are delighted to be affiliated with AHFC as they are a leader in the Houston soccer community. This partnership will greatly benefit SBMSA players and parents.”
Mark Horton, AHFC General Manager and Co-Director, echoes Jay Laughlin’s comments and adds “AHFC is honored to be affiliated with SBMSA. SBMSA has an excellent reputation and a brilliant track record in serving the youth of the community. This affiliation will certainly provide more opportunity for players within the Spring Branch and Memorial area and AHFC is pleased to be a part of this.”

Spring Branch-Memorial Sports Association (www.sbmsa.org), founded in 1961, has grown into a six sport, year-round recreational program for approximately 5,000 children. SBMSA conducts a recreational soccer program that has served the SBISD community for over three decades.
Both AHFC and SBMSA are non-profit organizations.
AHFC Club Night at the Houston Dynamo 6/1/08 Game!
Several hundred players and parents participated in the Albion Hurricanes FC Club Night last Sunday evening. Numerous "blue" tail gate parties were noticeable in the parking lot prior to the game and a noticeable blue hue was visible in the stands. The U11 boys teams did the honor of the Dream Team walk with the New York Red Bulls and members of the U15 girls team participated as ball girls. Every AHFC player was allowed to participate in the Rally Tunnel on the field prior to the game to "high five" the Dynamos as they took the field.
Don't forget that you can purchase tickets to any Dynamo home game this summer through Mark Jacob, markjacob@aol.com, and a portion of the ticket fee is returned to the club for capital improvements.
AHFC & Texas Rush Soccer Club
USSF Academy Exclusive Partnership!
Houston, TX, May 14, 2008 – Albion Hurricanes FC is pleased to announce that is has been invited to participate in the USSF Developmental Academy through an exclusive partnership with Texas Rush Soccer Club. This partnership is specific to the USSF Developmental Academy program and extends opportunities to all Houston area elite players.The USSF Development Academy program is currently offered to U16 – U18 boys and is intended to improve the day-to-day soccer environment for the elite youth player. It exposes them to the highest level of competition while providing a direct link to college scouts and other professional soccer organizations. Further, National Team and Staff coaches will be on hand at Academy matches and training sessions to ensure that players are seen in their natural playing environment.
Don Gemmell, Texas Rush Soccer Club Technical Director states, “We at Texas Rush are looking forward to our new partnership with AHFC and their contribution to this top level program. We appreciate their shared soccer philosophy and recognize that expanding our footprint in the Houston area and pooling our club’s resources will greatly benefit us both.”

It will certainly provide a greater opportunity for players within Houston and the surrounding areas. Brenda Salazar named to Houston Dynamo Adidas Best XI!
Sophomore Brenda Salazar (2008 district mvp) was selected by Adidas and the Houston Dynamo as a member of the "Best XI". Out of the approximately 1,500 varsity female soccer players in Houston she has been recognized as one of the best 11. On May 3rd she will be introduced with the other 10 players during pre-game ceremonies at the Houston Dynamo vs. Chivas USA game. Needless to say this is a HUGE honor.

Christopher Rabey signs with Lehigh University!
Koski announces the class of 2012

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Dean Koski announced the addition of 12 student-athletes to the program, on Thursday.
Joining the team from Houston, Texas is Christopher Rabey. A Houston native, he attended the Kinkaid School, where he earned All-Southern Preparatory Conference honors and All-South Zone honors as the team’s captain in 2007. He recorded 17 goals 17 assists throughout his career as a midfielder and forward. Rabey was also an active member of the cross country and track teams, earning All-District honors for both sports, while also capturing two state championships in the 4x800 meter relay.

Manny Bhogal selected for Regional Team
Manny Bhogal has been selected by your Region III head coach to attend the inter-regional event scheduled for November 22, 2007 through November 26, 2007 to be held at the Disney Wide World of Sports (DWWS) in Orlando, Florida. Regional Teams from all four regions are scheduled to compete against each other as well as the blue and gray ‘94 US Men’s National Teams.
The US National Team coaches will be attending this event to select the top players for National Team participation in further events. Our Region III coaches will be selecting their top players to attend the foreign trips scheduled for this spring from players at this event, as well. There will also be an estimated 75 Division I college coaches attending. This is one of the major recruiting events on their schedules.
